Feed the Fire speedrun guide: from day one to space
Take a fresh fire through World 1 with earnings-first spending, faster log feeding and stacked fuel spawners. Learn what to delay and how to finish the sun-to-space transition.
Prioritize earnings upgrades, bring logs directly into the fire, and build toward a large fuel-spawner setup. Keep feeding through each cloud check, reinvest after failed attempts, and survive the final Tempest to burn through the sun and reach space. Be selective with More Time: longer rounds help you build up, but they also mean waiting longer for the next cloud.
1. Light the fire and feed logs directly
Start the day-one fire with your match. Logs are your only fuel at this point, so begin grabbing them and bringing them straight into the flame. This is faster than throwing them from above and gives you a repeatable action for both growing the fire and earning Money.
Each log fed pays Money. Your payout changes as progression and earnings upgrades improve, so keep the fuel moving rather than aiming for a fixed amount per log.
Buy cursor-size upgrades as your fuel supply grows. A larger cursor lets you grab several logs together, which matters when individual pickups can no longer keep up with everything spawning.
2. Spend on earnings, collection and fuel supply
Make earnings multipliers your first spending priority. They increase the money coming from the feeding you already need to do, helping you afford the next purchases sooner. The 500% earnings upgrade is a strong mid-run target.
Use these priorities as your budget grows:
- Earnings first: improve the return from each feeding cycle before spreading money across optional purchases.
- Cursor size for collection: increase it when grabbing enough logs at once becomes difficult.
- Organic spawners for supply: add more fuel sources, then build toward pole batteries and electric spawners later in World 1.
You can follow the upgrade tree guide for the broader upgrade layout.
Purchases to delay
Postpone the electrical chain as an early priority. It performed poorly in one crowded manual-feeding setup, where collecting logs became difficult. Treat it as optional while reliable grabbing is doing most of your work.
Deprioritize the early shield if you already survive the first cloud. Its value was limited in that situation. Shield protection can still help during later checks, so make this a spending decision based on the cloud you are struggling with.
3. Feed through rain and reinvest after failure
Clouds and rain can drain fire levels rapidly. When a check begins, keep bringing available fuel into the fire as fast as possible. Continue feeding while your shield or dome is present; protection is only part of keeping the fire alive.
If the fire goes out, return to the menu, spend your retained Money on upgrades, then choose Play Again / Start the Fire. Ordinary failed World 1 attempts retain Money and upgrades, allowing the next attempt to begin with a stronger setup.
A failed attempt can still fund progress. Keep earnings high on your shopping list, then improve collection and supply so that more of the available fuel reaches the flame. For help with these checks, see the storm survival guide.
4. Stack spawners and control the waiting time
Later in World 1, expand into pole batteries and additional electric spawners. A heavily developed spawner setup can produce enough fuel to keep the fire growing with very little manual input. Keep feeding by hand until your own setup is sustaining that growth.
Buy More Time when the extra interval between clouds helps you build up the fire. Once your setup comfortably handles the checks, stop treating longer rounds as an automatic priority: those longer intervals also delay the remaining clouds on the way to the finish.
Strong setups around fire levels 35–40 have weathered storms with little level loss. Use that as a sign of progress while continuing to watch the fire during later checks.
5. Survive the final Tempest and reach space
Keep growing through the remaining clouds. Fire level 50 is a useful late-run benchmark: a successful World 1 run reached it before surviving the final Tempest. You still need to make it through that final check.
The finish is recognizable: your fire reaches the sun, burns through it, and a star boss destroys the world. That destruction leads into the transition to a different planet in space.
Arrival in space completes this route. The next progression introduces equipment such as the hot crate and conveyor belt; continue with the World 2 guide from there.
