Feed the Fire beginner guide: feeding, money and rain
Learn how to start your fire, drag logs into it for money, prepare for the first rain, and spend your earnings before the next round.
Drag loose logs from the field into your campfire to start earning money in Feed the Fire. Every piece of fuel burned pays you, and a bigger fire earns more from burns. Before the first rain arrives, use the countdown above the fire to keep adding logs and build it as large as you can.
Start the fire and earn from burns
- Light the starting campfire. If the opening cloud puts it out, use the match in your hand to relight it.
- Drag a fallen log into the flames. Logs drop onto the field at the start of a round. Grab one and bring it directly into your fire.
- Look for the payout and growth. Burns display money pop-ups, and continued feeding raises the FIRE LEVEL counter.
- Repeat with more logs as they drop. Keep moving fresh fuel into the flames to earn again and grow the fire.
Logs are your starting fuel. Batteries, explosives and fireworks can also be dragged into the fire as you unlock more fuel options through upgrades.
What to do before the first rain
Keep feeding while the countdown above the fire runs. Growing the fire serves two purposes: it increases earnings from burns and helps it withstand the coming rain.
When the countdown ends, a cloud moves over the fire and the opening rain phase, DRIZZLE, begins. The banner reads “SURVIVE THE RAIN — KEEP THE FIRE FED.” Continue dragging fuel into the flames during the rain and watch the fire's meter. If it empties, the fire goes out and the DROWNED OUT results screen appears.
For help beyond the opening rain, see the storm survival guide.
Buy upgrades and begin the next round
After a DROWNED OUT result, press UPGRADE to open the “FEED YOUR FIRE — every buy reveals more” panel. Spend your burn earnings here, then select START THE FIRE to begin another round.
An early log-focused option is Organic Fire Value, described as making logs “burn hotter (and grow a little).” Purchases reveal more of the upgrade tree, opening paths to new fuels and automatic feeding.
Spawners become useful as you progress: once bought and placed, they feed fuel to the fire automatically. Until then, keep dragging loose fuel by hand. The upgrade tree guide covers that progression in more detail.
